In a culminating event marking their journey through the Data Science Fellowship Programme (DSFP 3.0), fellows were engaged in two days of insightful post-program feedback sessions. Held on March 20th and 21st, 2024, these sessions provided a platform for fellows to reflect on their experiences, share challenges encountered during in-class training and fieldwork, and offer constructive recommendations for future program iterations.
The feedback sessions, a longstanding tradition of the DSFP, play an important role in shaping the program’s ongoing development. Gathering direct insights from fellows helps the DSFP team gain a nuanced understanding of the program’s strengths, areas for improvement, and participants’ evolving needs.
During the sessions, fellows highlighted the transformative impact of the fellowship. They shared stories of personal growth, skill development in data analytics and problem-solving, and the invaluable experience gained from real-world projects during fieldwork. Many fellows emphasized the practical application of data science methodologies in addressing complex challenges faced in the health sector.
We also candidly discussed the challenges encountered throughout the program, which ranged from technical hurdles to project management complexities. Fellows appreciated the opportunity to voice these challenges, recognizing that such discussions contribute to program refinement and better support for future cohorts.
As DSFP remains committed to excellence and continuous improvement, the insights gathered from these feedback sessions will inform strategic decisions for future cohorts. The DSFP team expressed gratitude to all fellows for their openness, contributions, and dedication to advancing data science in Kaduna State.
The program anticipates leveraging these insights to enhance curriculum modules, refine our approach, and foster a more robust experience.
