The Click-On Kaduna Data Science Fellowship Programme (DSFP) implementation partners have reached another milestone with the launch of the specialization phase, a first in the program’s five-year history. This innovative addition reflects a profound understanding of the evolving global landscape, where artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and data-driven decision-making are reshaping industries and governance. It is a bold step toward ensuring that Kaduna remains a leader in developing data science capacity, empowering young professionals to go beyond foundational knowledge and acquire specialized expertise that aligns with global industry demands.
Since its inception, DSFP has consistently pushed boundaries, equipping fellows with cutting-edge data science skills and positioning them to drive evidence-based policies, solve real-world problems, and influence decision-making across key sectors. However, as technology advances at an unprecedented pace, foundational skills are no longer enough. The need for specialization has become imperative, and DSFP is responding with a structured approach that ensures fellows do not just understand data but master it in ways that create lasting impact.
This phase allows fellows to refine their knowledge and deepen their expertise in key high-impact fields, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, geospatial analytics, and data engineering. The shift is about the fellows’ technical proficiency and preparing a workforce that is not only skilled but globally competitive, one that can build solutions, drive innovation, and influence policy within and beyond Kaduna State. The introduction of this phase eliminates the traditional 3 months of in-class training and 3 months purely dedicated to fieldwork with the KDBS and Health MDAs. Fellows work on case studies during class sessions and also have days dedicated to working on the NFTI Longitudinal Study as data champions at primary healthcare facilities.
