KDBS presents progress on the Digitization of the Health Facility Census: “HEFA is a powerful tool for planning and decision making” The Governor

As part of the data revolution plan for tracking social outcomes in the Health sector,  The Executive Governor of Kaduna State Mallam Nasir El-Rufai hosted the Kaduna State Bureau of Statistics (KDBS), Kaduna State Ministry of Health, State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and Natview Foundation for Technology Innovation, on Monday 23rd September 2019 to a meeting on progress towards digitizing the health facility census and the progress of the Data Lab as a center of excellence for data analytics and policy planning.  

In 2018, Kaduna State Bureau of Statistics, the State Ministry of Health and the State primary Development Agency with support from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and Center for Research, Evaluation and Resources Development (CRERD) conducted an all inclusive health facility census in the state. The Census listed, categorized and collected data on infrastructure, services offered, human resource strength as well as the GIS information from all existing/ functional health facilities in Kaduna state. 

The State with the support from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Natview Foundation for Technology Innovation (NFTI), under the Data Lab Project are working towards digitizing the census data into a comprehensive health facility directory and analytics tool for effective planning and decision making in the state.  

Governor El-Rufai said HEFA is a powerful tool for planning and decision making and the state looks forward to using the platform to guide effective investments in implementing Universal Health Coverage.
