The Statistician-General of Kaduna State Bureau of Statistics, Dr. Bukar Alhaji, recently hosted the team from Natview Foundation for Technology Innovation (NFTI) and Organizational Development consultants for an induction session aimed at enhancing the Bureau’s capacity in data analysis, knowledge management, and documentation support. This initiative, backed by the Gates Foundation, is designed to strengthen the Bureau’s existing capabilities, ensuring sustainable functionality through improved data management and operational insights.
The NFTI’s induction packet includes a comprehensive project aimed at supporting the Kaduna Bureau of Statistics through targeted interventions. This support encompasses survey design, methodology, data analysis, and the documentation of standard operating procedures. It also includes the establishment of a knowledge management framework, report writing workshops, and ongoing documentation support. The project also aims to create a system for continuous learning and capacity building, ensuring that the Bureau can sustain its operations and maintain high standards of data quality and management. Strengthening these areas, the project will benefit not only the Bureau but also other health sector stakeholders and Kaduna State residents through better management and implementation of government policies and services.
Expected outcomes of the project include improved organizational effectiveness, increased data management support, and enhanced knowledge management and documentation. The project will achieve these outcomes through a series of planned activities, such as supporting the competency assessment of the Bureau’s technical teams, developing SOPs for survey design and implementation, and establishing an e-learning and knowledge management repository. Regular training sessions and mentoring sessions will also be conducted for KDBS staff to ensure that the Bureau can maintain and build upon the improvements made.
The partnership between NFTI and the Kaduna State Bureau of Statistics is a major development in the state’s efforts to establish a reliable system for managing data. This initiative demonstrates a commitment to sustainable development and good governance by ensuring that data-driven decisions improve the lives of its citizens.
