From Data Producer to Data User, The Kaduna Data Lab Project
Between 2018 and 2023, the Kaduna State Bureau of Statistics moved from producing surveys to running the platforms government decisions depend on. A purpose-built Data Lab, 15 connected health data sources, and 110 trained fellows turned a survey agency into the state's single source of verifiable statistics.
The Kaduna State Data Revolution Plan began with a practical problem: different government sources reported conflicting figures for the same social indicators, and state-level estimates could not be broken down to local government or ward level. Between 2018 and 2023, the Kaduna State Government, the Gates Foundation, and the Natview Foundation for Technology Innovation set out to rebuild the Bureau of Statistics around that problem.
I’ve been equipped with skills that are required in data management value chain. The fellowship also supported me with networking and mentorship as I can access Intructors at anytime.
