In a remarkable development, the Click-On Kaduna Data Science Fellowship Programme (DSFP) 5.0 has expanded its intake for the 2025/2026 cohort. Originally set to select 40 fellows, the programme has now approved an additional five slots, bringing the total number of fellows for this year to 45.

The unprecedented number of high-quality applications received during this year’s process drove the decision, according to the DSFP Selection Committee. More than 5,400 young professionals applied, showcasing advanced skills, unique perspectives, and a shared commitment to using data for social good.

DSFP 5.0 has proven to be the most competitive fellowship cycle since the programme began in 2020. Part of this is because the programme has come of age. Five years on, its reputation and impact have inspired more young people to apply. Another critical factor is the active DSFP alumni network, which has continued to mentor and guide new applicants, raising the overall quality of submissions.

Many applicants have also leveraged Kaduna’s growing tech ecosystem, including digital skills hubs and online learning platforms, to enhance their readiness for the fellowship. This combination of mentorship, self-improvement, and the maturity of the programme itself has made DSFP 5.0 the most hotly contested edition to date.

The final shortlist of 45 fellows will be announced on September 3rd, 2025. Induction and orientation will follow from September 15th to 19th, with classes beginning on October 6th, 2025.

Now in its fifth edition, DSFP has already trained over 150 young professionals who are serving as data analysts, project managers, researchers, and global ambassadors for data-driven development. With 45 fellows joining this year, DSFP 5.0 is set to deepen Kaduna State’s capacity for evidence-based decision-making and youth-driven innovation.
